One more rainy day, an abstract version

Another image from yesterday still about the same subject : These hazel tree flowers hanging in the rain.
The motion blur is really due to vertical panning applied to the camera during the exposure.

In the deep forest

In the deep forest

An image from last week while i was walking through the forest of Col de la Forclaz.
I found one place with decideous trees in the foreground and old white pine tree trunks in the background. After one or two classic images for my stock, i spent a little time playing with camera shake to blend colors and lines.

Winter impression

Winter impression

On february 1, by a really cold and windy morning without any exciting light or atmosphere i was walking in the rural landscape around my home, just breathing the air and freezing my hands.

I stopped in front of these little trees growing along the path and spent some time, playing with them and my camera.

Wood detail

Detail of a colorful and textured piece of wood

From a piece of wood i was about to burn in the stove this morning before i had a closer look at its colours and texture. The image makes me think to the sandstone of some american canyons.

I think i have to work a little more on that wood before it heats us :)

Snowstorm impression in Valserine forest

Snowstorm in Valserine forest

One more of these few days in Haut Jura Natural Park at the end of last year.

From the house where we were staying, i had to walk in the deep fresh snow to come to this place. After all these years spent in Provence, i forgot how difficult but funny it could be. My tripod helped me more than once and not only to make images ...

That said, this photo was done hand held with moving the camera during the exposure and i really love this effect here.

Note :I've added this afternoon one new gallery dedicated to snow images on my french website.

Snow on the branches

Black and white abstract image of some snow on the branches of the trees of Valserine forest
Snow on the branches

We have spent the end of 2011 with our friends living in the heart of Valserine valley. While it was raining for more than one week around my home, their house and the landscape all around were under a huge amount of snow.

I just retreived my office and computers this morning and couldn't wait to wish you a wonderful new year with this abstract image done with no other effect than camera shake during the exposure.

Weekly commented photo # 44 - Autumn impression

Abstract photograph of some autumn leaves blended by camera movement during the exposure
Autumn impression

As you may have noticed, with the autumn cames to me the mood for creating some abstract images.
I can't explain exactly why but that's certainly because i spent many and many hours in summer to some long and early drives to Haut Jura Natural Park.

At the end of september i needed something more tranquil and decided to work on the beautiful fall colours in the forest and trees around my home.
Of course i couldn't resist to a few visit to Valserine forest but most of the time i could work without taking my car.

Spending a long time photographing only a very small and close area can become boring if you stuck with classical scenes and don't try something different.
So i started to think in terms of colours, textures and shapes, blending them with moving my camera during the exposure or with multi exposures.

As usual, the more you practice, the more the things become interesting.
With the time i started to devine which subject and which movements are the most likely to give the result i expect. Although sometimes the final image is still a total surprise but that's one of the pleasures of photography.

This photo was created yesterday evening in a little wood between my home and Fornant river.
I got a few other ones with such colours and textures and two or three with some trunk silhouettes nicely swiped by the camera movements.
