Dusk light on Nernier harbor

Dusk light on Nernier harbor

One more from my last visit to Nernier.
It was not easy to get because the wind was blowing strongly at dusk time making the boats to move and many duks were crossing the lake leaving some "dirty" tracks on the silky water.

Another image from my recent visit to Aravis mountain range.
The first mountain on the photo is Merdassier (elevation 2313m) and behind, you can see the top of Etale mountain (2484m).
The image was taken at the beginning of blue hour and a few time before the one i posted one week ago about Mount Charvin.

17 photos of Aravis mountain range (including this one) where published yesterday on my french website.

Winter dusk on Charvin mountain

Winter dusk on Mount Charvin in Aravis mountain range

An image from today.
I spent the afternoon on Beauregard plateau in Aravis mountain range. It was a sunny but fresh day. It was the first time i returned there since i'm back in Haute Savoie. It was impossible for me last year and i really wanted some images before all the snow was gone.
Mount Charvin is one of the main mountains of this range and i don't know why but it seems that it's other sides are really more photographed than this one.

Blue hour on Geneva lake

Photo of Geneva lake at blue hour in winter with the banks covered with ice
Blue hour on Geneva lake at Nernier harbor

Although the real name of this lake is Léman lake, out of France it's mostly known as Geneva lake. One part is french and the other is swiss.
The photo was made in France and the mountains in the backgroud are in Switzerland.

During the freezing cold we had a few time ago this pier looked like an artic place with amazing ice sculptures done by the wind.
I could go there only this afternoon. I was not sure to find some ice because the weather is a little more hot for some days but i wanted to explore a little this unknown place.

One more image from 2 days ago. So it was a great sunday afternoon.

Cold was still really strong and i spent about one hour standing with my tripod in front of the lake photographing the changes of light during dusk time.
I'll post images from time to time here but i published the entire serie yesterday on my french website.

Blue hour on the mountains of Massif des Bauges Natural Park

Photograph at blue hour of the mountains of Massif des Bauges in winter

A photo from yesterday.
I was in Massif des Bauges Natural Park to make images of a large building entirely built with local wood. This work was finished in the beginning of the afternoon and i was able to go to the mountains for a few personnal images under a beautiful light.
The only trouble was that i was really not dressed to stay out by a winter dusk in the mountains. I just had somme rubber boots in my car. The snow was not too deep and hardened by the cold. So, i could hike a little in the snowy fields to find some interesting point of view but a moderate wind was blowing from the north ...

Weekly commented photo # 52 - Winter dusk on Annecy lake

Long exposure photograph of Annecy lake by a winter dusk
Winter dusk on Annecy lake

So that's the last week of 2011 and my Weekly Commented Photo project reaches its end (you can read a short introduction here).
It was a bit fun but not really easy for me french speaking photographer to find every friday some english words to put under a photo. At least, it was a good exercise :)

I went to Annecy on last friday expecting to find some snow on the mountains around the lake. As you can devine i was a little disapointed and i just found one or two interesting views at dusk time when the christmas light started.
A little time before i took this photo, the place was overcrowded by tourists. I don't know why but they all nicely disapeared in a few minutes.

The image was done with a soft and light GND filter. The exposure was 30 seconds long.

See you next year !

Weekly commented photo # 49 - Mediterranean dusk at Gigaro beach

Photo of the mediterranean sea at Gigaro beach near Saint Tropez
Mediterranean dusk at Gigaro beach

This end of autumn is rainy and from a photographer's point of view, the landscape all around is not really exciting. I only made a few images in the past week and spent most of my time working on files from the preceding months. I'm also negociating with a TV channel which want to buy some of my photos but doesn't seems ready for the price i ask :).

So, this morning i was wandering about which image to feature here today when i receive an order from my french website for a print of the above photo.

I was a little surprised because that's an old image and because there is another one just near in the gallery that i find most beautiful. But after all a sale is a sale and one more time i was happy not to post only my own favourite images but all the "correct" ones.

Gigaro beach is a famous place in Saint Tropez area but i've just a few images from there. I think you can now retrieve most of them on this blog through this link.

Long time readers of this blog may recognize this tree, others can click here.

The light was beautiful but a strong wind was blowing and all the leaves were blurred during the 20 seconds exposure.

Autumn dusk on Roussette vineyard

Photo of the french vineyard under dusk light in autumn
Autumn dusk on Roussette vineyard - Haute Savoie

Roussette is the name of a french white wine produced locally here around Frangy.
There are many vines fields in the rural landscape around my home and this image was done yesterday evening in the beautiful light of an autumn dusk.
The snowy mountain you can see in the background is the Mont Blanc which was the highest european mountain until some politics decided to change what Europe was.

I also have a large photo gallery about the french vineyard on my main website but most of the images where done in Provence.

I july when i went to the Jura mountains to make some images of Hérisson waterfalls i slept in my van above this lake, just near the place where this photo was done. It was just a snapshot before going to bed.

Weekly commented photo # 31 - Dusk light on the Alpine meadow

Dusk light on Grand Cret d'Eau mountain
Dusk light on Grand Crêt d'Eau mountain

That's another scheduled post because i'm not at work this week. No office work, no blogging and a very few photography. I hope to retrieve a better posting rate here during next week.

As you can devine, this image is from the same serie that the previous one of my Weekly commented photos. It was done a little later and i was still around the Chalet du Sac on Grand Crêt d'Eau mountain.

Usually, chalets are built with wood logs but the word also designates these little houses used by sheperds spending summer with their flocks in the mountains.
This one is not still used by sheperds but i've read that anyone hiking there can stop here and spend the night in a safe place.
That's not difficult to devine that i will probably try that in a short time, just to be sure not to miss the first lights of the day.

The photo is a HDR one done from 5 exposures and processed with SilkyPix and Photomatix.

Why did i use HDR photography here ?
Just because that the scene dynamic range was really too high to give a nice and good result even with a very strong GND filtration.

Dusk light on the wheat field

Dusk light on the wheat field
Dusk light on the wheat field

An image done about one month ago on a hilltop of my close neighborhood.

I woke up before done yesterday for a deeper exploration of The Rural Landscapes Around My Home.
I drove a lot along many narrow rural roads but couldn't find a good place.
When i finally found an interesting point of view on some villages along the Rhône river, the sun was too high and the light too strong.
