Winter morning on Bourget lake
An image from a few days ago done along Bourget lake near Aix les Bains in Savoie department.
This lake is one of the biggest natural lakes in France and is known for having inspired the famous poet Lamartine.
Other photos from this morning were posted yesterday on my french website, you can see them here.

The village under the mountains
of Massif des Bauges Natural Park
Another view of La Compôte en Bauges.
The previous one was done with a longer lens and gave a closer view of the village but this one give a better idea of its environment.

Rural landscape with hay stacks in Massif des Bauges
One more image of this july afternoon in Massif des Bauges Natural Park.
This one was done just a very short time after i left my client, at the beginning of my long drive through the park.
I saw these hay stacks near the road when i was on a pass named Col des Prés. It was not the best time for photography but my stock was short of rural landscapes with hay stacks, so i stopped for a very few images.
I'll soon post more pictures from this day here but i've published the most interesting ones on my website a few days ago. You can have a look here.

La Compote, mountain village in Massif des Bauges Natural Park
An image from july.
In this hot summer day afternoon, i was driving through Massif des Bauges Natural Park, back from a client assignment. I had spent the morning making architecture images of a wood made building and wanted to relax a bit and explore the park.
I love driving on mountain roads, climbing the passes and discovering the landscape all around.
I arrived at La Compôte in the second part of afternoon, had a fresh drink in a café, hiked the hills all around for a few shots and drove to Annecy lake and Duing castle.

Blue hour on the mountains of Massif des Bauges Natural Park
A photo from yesterday.
I was in Massif des Bauges Natural Park to make images of a large building entirely built with local wood. This work was finished in the beginning of the afternoon and i was able to go to the mountains for a few personnal images under a beautiful light.
The only trouble was that i was really not dressed to stay out by a winter dusk in the mountains. I just had somme rubber boots in my car. The snow was not too deep and hardened by the cold. So, i could hike a little in the snowy fields to find some interesting point of view but a moderate wind was blowing from the north ...

Weekly commented photo #12 - Sunset light on the Massif des Bauges
On monday i had an appointment with a client in the Massif des Bauges area. After my first and unsuccessful attempt a few weeks ago (see here) i was decided to give this place another try.
I was expecting my shooting job to finish early and to have time for personnal landscapes after, just at the better light.
As things don't always go as expected, the job ended just before the end of afternoon and i had to spend a little time with the client to speak and have a drink. BTW it was a nice piece of time but when it ended it was too late to drive to the mountains where i wanted to go and so i took the shortest road to my home.
After less than half an hour on the mountain road i arrived to a little pass where i discovered this sunset view.
I stopped the car along the road, unpacked my gear and made this image.
I had to use a 1.2 (5 stops) soft gnd filter to keep the sky correct without darkening too much the shadows.
It was ok for the exposure but the sun was not completely set and when processing the file i discovered a flare mark that i couldn't remove completely so that's just another image which will never be printed.

Alpine lake under the clouds
Another one from our summer trip.
The Mont-Aiguille is a beautiful and historical mountain because it's reputated to be the first mountain that men climbed with no other goal than going to the top. So it would be the birth place of alpinism.
When i was 12, i made a walk around this mountain and took many images that hanged a long time in my bedroom.
As our road to Jura passed just near, i decided to make a night stop just under the mountain to make some photos at dawn. We arrived in the evening and found a perfect place for the van, the weather was beautiful and i could expect some beautiful pink hues at dawn.
But Alps are not Provence, at 3 am, we were awakend by an impressive thunder storm with a huge rain. One hour later we decided to leave and drive to a more peaceful place. A few hundreds km later, we were just near the Lac du Bourget and the rain has stopped. We had a short stop here and i took this photo during our breakfast time.
