I won't list here all the places where i've made photos during the past ten years but i think that a short description of the french departments the most represented on this blog can be useful.
HAUTE SAVOIE DEPARTMENT
That's where i was born and where i currently live.
It's an alpine region with a famous city : Chamonix and a famous mountain : Mont-Blanc.
Another very well know place is Annecy. It's a very nice and touristic city with a big lake surrounded by mountains.
Haute Savoie department has boundaries with Switzerland and Italy.

SAVOIE DEPARTMENT
When you leave Haute Savoie following the south direction, you arrive in Savoie department.
History is complicated but during a long time Savoie and Haute Savoie where considered as a single and independant area with strong relationships with Italy and Sardigna. They where annexed and became french in 1860.
Savoie also has mountains where people love to ski and also has a big lake : Bourget lake. It's also well known for it's white wine. The main city is Chambéry.
AIN DEPARTMENT
Ain department is a very very large one and i mostly know the natural areas. River Rhône makes a natural boundary with Haute Savoie department. The main city is Bourg en Bresse.
JURA DEPARTMENT
Jura is just on the north of Ain and Haute Savoie, it has a boundary with Swiss.
It's a place of soft and round mountains with many forest, lakes and rivers. It's a paradise for waterfall photographers and tourists love it in winter for skiing and in summer for hiking.
The main city is Lons le Saunier.
VAR DEPARTMENT
Var department is also very well known for tourism. It's in Provence on the mediterranean coast.
The main city is Toulon but the most famous place is probably a small village named Saint Tropez.
There are also two larges and beautiful natural areas : One in the hills of Massif des Maures and the other around Grand Canyon du Verdon.
