In the north of Provence, there is one place known as the European Grand Canyon.
The place's french name is Gorges du Verdon. It's a very touristic place and wordly famous in the rock climbing comunity. A long time ago, i spent a lot of time there, just for climbing all these majestic grey cliffs. I was just near to live there, some friends did...
In 2004, i went back to meet some of these friends and shot some landscapes. I put some of them online and almost forgot anything about these images.
Last week, one of these photos has been sold to a french magazine printed at 450 000 units for beeing displayed on a full double page.
Of course it's not a bad image but surely not one of my fav.
And that's a common thing with licences sales : the licenced images are rarely the most beautiful. If someone can tell why, i'm interested...

It is not beauty that counts but recognisability and popularity. A picture that at once brings to mind that certain place, that is the one that is used. And it still is a very beautiful picture!
That's weird, I'm wondering that too now...
I was there last september! I loved the surroundings a lot! You live in a magical place!
