Playing with the Hoya ND 400 filter in full light

Winter morning at Bau Rouge beach
Winter morning at Bau Rouge beach - Provence

The Hoya ND 400 filter multiply the exposure time by around 500. So it can be difficult to use in low light but it can give some exposure around the minute when used in full day light.
The photo above was done in the early morning in january.

Wow. I gotta get me one of those. Great way to soften up the water a lot while there's still plenty of light on the other parts of the scene. I usually have to wait until the light gets really dull. The most I ever use is ND8, sometimes combined with a polarizer, but even those together are not close to this.
Looks like the water was fairly calm for this one; the effect on the water is subtle. Very nice image- beautiful coastline around there.

Mark, if you're looking for a strong ND filter i can also suggest you the BW 110.
