A closer view of Barbennaz waterfall (first one posted here).
It's an image from august. I arrived there in the late afternoon but had to wait a long time before the light was soft enough, at least it gave me some time to explore the place and find interesting points of view.

The 5 sites to discover :
  • Scott Linstead
Scott Linstead is a nature and wildlife photographer, working with color and black and white.

  • Daniel H Bailey

  • Ben Attenbach

  • Douglas J Eng
Beautiful and various images from different styles.

  • Daniel Shea

First autumn colors along the Usses river

First autumn colors along the Usses river
First autumn colors along the Usses river

The Usses river runs from the Salève mountain to the Rhône river which goes to the Mediterranean sea.
Salève mountain and the point where the Usses river meets the Rhône are not too far from the place where we now live so i expect to be able to explore this river more seriously. This image was done early in the morning on october 1, a very few km far from my home.
When i was a child my parents where often driving along this river and i remember i was impressed and perharps afraid by its dark aspect ...

Annecy, morning walk along the lake

Annecy lake
Annecy lake

While making this image i was thinking about how i could have spend so many years without coming there. It's probably one of my favourite place in the world, perharps because i was borned in one of the building you can see in the background.

For readers interested in technical infos, i used 2 filters in this image : A 0.6 soft GND to balance sky and foreground and a Hoya ND 400 for the long exposure in full day light. The long exposure was desired there for its own and known effect but also to "erase" all the people who were there enjoying this quiet and beautiful autumn morning.

Note: I also wrote a longer but french post about the use of long exposure to hide some unwanted moving elements in a photo.

PS : My new office is ready :)

Chaumont village and the Fornant river running under the woods

Panoramic view of Chaumont village - Haute Savoie
Chaumont village

Here are 2 recent shots from our new place : the village near which we live and the Fornant river just before the nice Barbennaz waterfall.

Note 1 : The panoramic view was done by stitching 20 images taken with a long lens. The job was done as usual with PTGui.

Note 2 : I'm still busy with building my new office and working in the house so you will have to wait a little more for the return of regular posting here.

Barbennaz waterfall and some news from the Alps

Barbennaz waterfall
Barbennaz waterfall

So on july 24 after some weeks spent packaging our stuff, we left Provence to come and live in the french Alps.
A few days later i recovered a decent DSL connection but just used it a little bit. Too many hard word in our new but very old house and no really time to spend processing images i've started to make while exploring the landscape all around.
