On monday morning i returned to Arcine with some images in mind. As often, wheather near Rhône river was not what i expected and compromised my ideas.
After seriously thinking driving back home immediately, i went for a forest walk and ended with a few interesting photos.

Gold on Rhône river

Yesterday morning i returned to Arcine for some new images of Rhône river.
I spent the first hour of soft light with photos of the nice forest on the river banks and when the light became too strong, i stayed a little and played with the reflections on the water.

All my images of Rhône river ar here.

This one send us back to the last day of september when i went to Arcine to get images of the autumn around the Rhône river.

The nut tree near the rural path can also be seen here.

Fall colours around Arcine castle

I returned to Arcine on friday evening.
I wanted to catch a little more of the autumn colours along the Rhône river.

Arriving on the place, i noticed the beautiful colours on the forest surrounding the castle and spent a little time here before going to the forest closer to the river.

Weekly commented photo # 40 - Lonely tree in a misty rural landscape

Photograph of a lonely tree in a misty rural landscape
Lonely tree in a misty rural landscape

This is an autumn image without the usual autumn colours. Nuts are still on the walnut tree and this one is still mostly green.

The photo was done in Arcine, just near the village.
I stopped there while i was on the road to go to the Rhône valley for images of the autumn forest along the river. The valley is a few kilometers behind this tree and was lost in a deep fog when i arrived.

I noticed this misty scene around the tree while driving but followed my initial idea and went to the Rhône. Seeing there wouldn't be any good photographic opportunities near the river before at least one hour, i drove back to this field where the fog was a little lighter.

I did a few compositions turning around the tree with a wide angle lens and some soft GND filters. After that i walked back to my car that was parked a little above the field and then tried some other images from the road with a longer lens.
While i was walking, the mist became deeper and deeper and when i arrived on the road, there was so much fog between the tree and i that my autofocus couldn't work.

I switched the camera to manual focusing and did a few images before driving back to the river where i had to wait about half an hour for the fog to disappear and make photos like this one.

About the last images of the walnut tree i made from the road, they nicely show the tree silhouette in the mist but i still hesitate about how to process them. Will i keep the very soft silhouette or will i try to get something more detailed ?

Autumn morning along the Rhone river

Autumn morning along the Rhône river near Arcine

On friday, i returned at dawn to the Rhône river near Arcine.

I arrived there really soon and all the valley was in a really deep fog. The river was quite invisible. So i came back a little more close to the village where i could do a few beautiful images of some misty rural landscapes.

One or two hours later, the mist was gone and i could return to the river and catch some beautiful autumn colors reflected in the river.

Weekly commented photo #18 - Arcine castle on the Vuache mountain

Arcine castle on the Vuache mountain
Arcine castle on the Vuache mountain

This very little castle was probably built in the 12th century.

I've heard of it many times since we came back to live in Haute Savoie and i wanted some images for my stock. That's why i came to Arcine for the first time.

As you can imagine, i was a little disapointed when i saw the castle for the first time. I was expecting something a bit more spectacular.
I turned around during a moment but the best point of you i found this day was this one. It's a bit far from the monument but it shows the most interesting walls and it was going well with the light of this end of afternoon. It also shows how the castle hangs on the slope of the Vuache mountain.
