Gold on Rhône river

Gold on Rhône river

Yesterday morning i returned to Arcine for some new images of Rhône river.
I spent the first hour of soft light with photos of the nice forest on the river banks and when the light became too strong, i stayed a little and played with the reflections on the water.

All my images of Rhône river ar here.

Snapshots from Tournon sur Rhône

On our way to Ardèche plateau, we stopped in Tournon sur Rhône, an old city with very nice monuments along Rhône river which is here the limit between Drôme and Ardèche departments.
After an short walk in the streets, we spent a few hours visiting an interesting art exhibition in the local museum.

Springtime on the Rhône valley

Landscape photograph on the Rhône river running through a green valley at springtime
Springtime on the Rhône valley

When i went to Surjoux to make images of Pain de Sucre waterfall, i noticed a little place with a nice point of view on the Rhône valley.
I came back a few weeks later by a rainy afternoon with short appearances of sun.

Weather was really awful when i arrived, so i first spent a long time driving all around to explore this part of the valley i don't know well.
When the rain stopped to fall continually, i returned to this place overhanging the river where i could make a short serie of images under the warm light of a few sunrays making the green forests really beautiful.
The complete serie was published yesterday on my french website.

Note :
If you're interested in french geography, Rhône river is here the boundary between 2 departments, Ain on the right side of the image and Haute Savoie on the left side.

Autumn on the junction of Rhone and Parnant river

Parnant river is a very small stream but it goes to the Rhône which is one of the biggest rivers in France.
After the junction the water will run a little more than 500 km to reach the Mediterranean sea in Provence.

A green image from this morning.

I returned this morning to Parnant river. I left the place where i had done images about one week ago, walked to the Rhône river and followed it by a little path through the forest.
I walked to an old bridge named Pont de Grésin, stopped there for a few pictures and then explored the forest all around.

This photo was done from the bridge.

I've recently read that a famous french writer compared this part of the river to a Mississipi without crocodiles. I can't say if the comparison was right but at least there are no crocodiles !

Another one from my last friday along the Rhône river around Arcine.

After some more usual and wider views of the river and its valley, i spent a little time with a long lens trying to catch some nice closeups of the autumn foliage reflected in the water.
The water is always moving and changing and the real effect on the images is quite impossible to predict. So i took several frames with the same settings and then some other ones with another shutter speed.
This one is really one of my favs after the selection done on my large computer screen.

On friday, i returned at dawn to the Rhône river near Arcine.

I arrived there really soon and all the valley was in a really deep fog. The river was quite invisible. So i came back a little more close to the village where i could do a few beautiful images of some misty rural landscapes.

One or two hours later, the mist was gone and i could return to the river and catch some beautiful autumn colors reflected in the river.

Weekly commented photo #16 : Wind at dusk on the Rhône river

Wind at dusk on the Rhône river
Wind at dusk on the Rhône river

Last week, i showed you an overview of the Rhône valley near Arcine. The image was done on my first day in this area.
During this first day i also spent a lot of time exploring the little paths through the fields and forests. In the evening i found one going to the river but it was too late and i decided to report my visit to another time.

The day after, i was back with the firm intention to go to the rivers, explore its borders and find nice point of views.
But while on the road i found an other nice overview of the valley, so i stopped.
After that i took the little path found the day before and it was crossing a beautiful forest. So i stopped and made a few images of the trees with their fresh springtime leaves.

Like you devine, i arrived very late at the river and had no time to really explore for a stunning point of view.
I made a few images in the dusk light. A very strong wind from north was blowing and getting something sharp in the low light was just impossible so i decided to let the things go.
Later, while processing the files i was seduced by this blurred but living image.
