An image from one month ago during my most recent visit to Parnant and Rhône rivers.
Yesterday afternoon i returned to Parnant river for some new images of the canyon surrounded by the autumn forest and came back with a few ones i like (including this one) and which will soon increase my stock about this place.
One more image from the few i did during this rainy morning in the forest.
This morning i left home before dawn and drove to Parnant river expecting some beautiful autumn colors in the forest.
The road was under an heavy and cloudy sky and i started to walk the rural path leading to the river under a light rain.
In the forest i was protected by the leaves but autumn colors were not really there and i discovered that the river had a really low water level.
I decided to explore the forest a little more but the rain was more and more strong. I started to walk back to my car when i noticed this tree on the other side of the river.
An image from last week while i was walking through the forest of Col de la Forclaz.
Yesterday, i woke up once more at 4am for a new try with morning landscapes of Annecy lake viewed from Col de la Forclaz. Once more i was unlucky with the light.
After perharps one or two correct images at dawn, i decided to give up my idea of lake landscapes and spent a few times in the deep and steep coniferous forest overhanging the pass.
An image from end of spring, done during my first exploration in Massif des Bornes.
One more image of the Bronze river from my first explorations in Massif des Bornes area.
Waiting for the light to be good on Dard waterfall, i had a beautiful hike along the river running underwoods in a narrow canyon.
I guess it will be a wonderful place in autumn.
Why so much images about rivers and forest ?
Some may be surprised by the amount of photos here about the french forests and running waters. There are many reasons for this big number of images :
An image from September 2011 with the first autumn mist rising on the mountain forest of Valserine valley.
I rarely process my photos in black and white but i had a good feeling with this one ...
An "abstract" image done during some recent explorations of the forest along the Rhône river near Pont de Grésin.
One more from these few days in Haut Jura Natural Park about one week ago.
I know this noname stream for about one year and after the really rainy springtime we had here, i thought conditions were good for a few pictures.
Arrived on the place a little soon in the afternoon, i went for a walk through the beautiful forest, waiting for the sun to be lower on the horizon and came back when the light started to be good.

An image from about one week ago, done from an old bridge (Pont de Grésin) crossing the Rhône river between Ain and Haute Savoie departments.
A few days old image from Haut Jura Natural Park.
The forest contains both deciduous and coniferous trees and this photo is a good illustration of how they blend and contrast.

A green image from this morning.
I returned this morning to Parnant river. I left the place where i had done images about one week ago, walked to the Rhône river and followed it by a little path through the forest.
I walked to an old bridge named Pont de Grésin, stopped there for a few pictures and then explored the forest all around.
This photo was done from the bridge.
I've recently read that a famous french writer compared this part of the river to a Mississipi without crocodiles. I can't say if the comparison was right but at least there are no crocodiles !
Another one from my first visit to Parnant river one week ago. This one gives a better view on the canyon done by the water in this special sandstone named molasse.

An image of a new place i've just discovered on monday morning.
Parnant river runs through the fields and forest near Arcine and go to the Rhône river. The ground on its last part is made of a kind of sandstone where the river had done a deep and sinuous canyon named the Tine (pronounced like teen) which starts with this little waterfall and ends to the Rhône river.
